NCI Network Clock Interface






The Network Clock Interface (NCI) provides NTP synchronization to most types of MOBATime slave clocks and master clocks. The easy way of commissioning, its high performance at low costs and its small dimensions make it suitable for most ner or existing LAN/WAN Ethernet installations.
The interface is synchronized by the Network Time Protocol (NTP) from a multicast capable Timeserver within the network. The NCI generates the common time codes MOBALine and DCF in local time format for synchronization of various types of analog and digital slave clock or submaster clocks.

Simple, cost-effective installation
With its excellent price, performance ratio, simple setup and minimal dimensions the NCI is suitable for most new or existing LAN/WAN Ethernet installations. Due to NTP multicast it is not necessary to set an IP or Gateway address or subnet mask.

Multicast and PoE
As most routers can relay NTP multicast messages the system can consist of several networks. All necessary configurations, such as for example selection of the NTP multicast address or time zone entry, can be configured simply by a DIP switch. When feeding the NCI via Power over Ethernet (PoE) a single connection to a PoE-compatible LAN Switch/Router is needed. An additional DC input enables to supply the interface via an external DC power supply or via a connected digital clock or master clock if no PoE is available.

Time zone servers for NTP multicast-compatible devices
NTP Timeservers such as for example the Net Master Clock NMC can provide the NCI with a time zone table for the local time. When using a standard multicast NTP server with no time zone server function, it is possible to select one of 56 entries from a predefined table on each NCI.

Clock movement synchronized and powered by MOBALine time code from NCI.
DCF time code for corresponding movements available (current loop passive).

Power supply for NCI: Power over Ethernet (PoE).

4 NTP digital clocks
Power supply for NCI: DC supply from digital clock.

5 NTP synchronized submaster clock
Power supply for NCI: DC supply from master clock.
Master clock synchronized by DCF time code from NCI.
Automatic local time calculation.
