DFCCIL – Western Corridor Phase II, STP 17

Workshop in Sumiswald - people talking about clocks and synchronization

On 19th & 20th February 2020, we had an opportunity to welcome a senior delegation representing the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited, General Consultants including the senior representatives from Sojitz – L&T Consortium as well as HFCL Limited witnessing Factory Acceptance Test of proposed Master Clock System.

Post inspection of the fabrication process & the produced material, we found them fully satisfied with the visit at our factory in Switzerland.

The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) or (Western DFC) is a broad gauge freight corridor under construction in India by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL). The freight system will aid in the economic development of the nation. It enables a segregated electrified line for freight, parallel to the existing railway line. This indirectly allows the passenger trains to move faster in the existing lines.

The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC Phase-2) STP-17 consists of 12 stations (9 Crossing and 3 Junction). The freight line has a span of 422 Kms, starting from JNPT to Vadodara section of the WDFC Phase-2. This is expected to be completed by December 2021. Consultant M/s Oriental Consultants Global Consortium is providing the general consultancy for the project.

A joint venture of Sojitz Corporation and Larsen & Toubro was awarded the contract to provide electrified rail freight systems for the JNPT- Vadodara section, while Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited, a telecom infrastructure company, was sub-contracted to implement telecommunication systems and Moser Baer AG (MOBATIME Swiss Time Systems), based in Switzerland is further sub-contracted for Design, Manufacturing, Supply, Execution, Testing & Commissioning and Training of the Master Clock System Package.

The objective of Master Clock Systems is to provide precise and reliable time & date information throughout the freight line infrastructure and to display the precise time & date information by means of Digital Indoor Clocks.

MOBATIME make, Sub-Master Clock units in 1+1 configuration will be deployed at all the Station Telecom Equipment Rooms (TER) of STP-17 (WDFC-Phase-II) project. These units will be configured as NTP Clients to receive the time synchronization signal from the Masterclock units from WDFC Phase-1 STP 5 project over the DNS. These units will synchronize their time and in turn will act as local NTP servers & Masterclock for sub-systems and slave display digital clocks deployed at the stations and depots. Sub-Master Clock units via DNS switches will be distributing time information to the PoE enabled slave clock units. All slave clocks proposed in this project are digital indoor type in single sided version to display hour & minute (alternatively date & month) shall be deployed at indoor area such as Rooms, offices, etc.

We herewith thank them for their visit & time at our factory.
