BERNMOBIL to install 150 new MOBATIME Passenger Information Displays

MOBATIME has been selected to supply approximately 150 new Passenger Information Displays for BERNMOBIL, the public transport operator serving the Swiss capital of Bern. The project marks another important milestone for MOBATIME in delivering reliable, energy-efficient and accessible passenger information solutions for modern public transport networks.
With the first eight displays already operating in a pilot phase since October 2026, the project is progressing towards a full rollout scheduled between March and December 2027.
Modernising passenger information across Bern
As part of its ongoing efforts to modernise public transport infrastructure, BERNMOBIL is replacing existing electronic passenger information displays that have reached the end of their service life. The new MOBATIME displays will provide passengers with clear and easily accessible departure information while meeting the demanding requirements of daily public transport operations.
The project forms part of a joint procurement initiative involving several regional public transport operators, including Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn (RBS), Verkehrsbetriebe Biel, STI Bus AG Thun and AREMO. Following a competitive public tender. Moser-Baer AG, operating under the MOBATIME brand, was awarded the contract after submitting the most economically advantageous offer.
The project also builds on the successful introduction of similar passenger information displays in the city of Biel/Bienne, where the new systems have already been in operation for approximately one year. The displays in Bern will follow the same design concept, creating a more consistent and recognisable passenger information experience across the region while accommodating local requirements such as bilingual information in Biel/Bienne.

Designed for visibility, accessibility and efficiency
Passenger information displays are a vital part of the public transport experience. Travellers rely on accurate, clearly presented information to navigate the network and make informed travel decisions.
The new MOBATIME displays combine several important features:
- High visibility: Bright displays ensure that passenger information remains easily readable under varying lighting conditions.
- Improved accessibility: Integrated audio announcements support passengers with visual impairments and contribute to more inclusive public transport.
- Energy-efficient operation: The displays are designed to reduce energy consumption during everyday operation.
- Low-maintenance design: Reliable technology and service-friendly construction support efficient long-term operation.
Together, these features help BERNMOBIL enhance the passenger experience while maintaining a strong focus on operational efficiency and sustainability.
A Swiss partnership built on quality and trust
