MOBATIME Completes Successful FAT for Egypt’s High-Speed Rail Project
The successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the Egypt High-Speed Rail (HSR) project marks a significant achievement in the country’s ambitious effort to develop a modern, efficient, and fully synchronized railway network. As part of Egypt’s first high-speed rail system connecting Ain Sokhna to Marsa Matruh via Cairo and Alexandria, this milestone underscores the importance of precise time synchronization in ensuring seamless operations, safety, and reliability across all stations and control centers.
Key Stakeholders
- End Client: National Authority for Tunnels
- Contractor JV: Orascom Construction & Arab Contractors
- System Supplier: Honeywell
Scope of FAT
- Visual Inspection: Verification of all system components including Master Clocks, Sub-Master Clocks, and Slave Clocks (analogue and digital).
- Hardware & Software Functional Tests: Assessment of output accuracy, synchronization performance, alarm reporting, holdover stability, and failure switchover functionality.
- NTP & PTP Integration: Validation of NTP, PTP (IEEE 1588), and SNMP communication and performance.
- High Availability & Redundancy: Verification of automatic Master-Slave switchover functionality within the Master Clock system.
Solution Highlights
- DTS 4150.grandmaster
Redundant Master Clocks installed at the OCC and BOCC locations, ensuring high availability and reliable time synchronization across the network. - DTS 4135.timeserver
Sub-Master Clocks deployed at stations, depots, and other facilities to distribute precise NTP time to local systems and devices. - Flex Indoor Analogue Clocks Installed in various indoor areas such as offices, meeting rooms, and control spaces, offering a clear and elegant time display.
- Metroline Outdoor Analogue Clocks
Designed for station platforms and concourse areas, providing excellent visibility and durability in outdoor environments. - DC Outdoor Digital Clocks
Used in station control rooms and operational offices, featuring high-brightness LED displays for accurate and easy time reading. - ECO-M-DK Indoor Calendar Clocks
Installed in technical rooms and offices, displaying both time and date for enhanced operational convenience.
Key Milestones
The Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) aimed to validate the master clock system’s performance against project-specific requirements and ensure full parameter compliance. Conducted in the presence of representatives from the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), Orascom, Arab Contractors, Honeywell, and MOBATIME engineers, the FAT involved a comprehensive series of tests confirming the system’s precision, reliability, and redundancy in delivering accurate time synchronization across the Egypt High-Speed Rail (HSR) infrastructure.
The successful completion of the FAT represents a key milestone in deploying a safe, modern, and efficient time synchronization solution for the HSR project. It further highlights the strong collaboration between NAT, Orascom, Arab Contractors, Honeywell, and MOBATIME, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing Egypt’s next-generation public transportation network.
